Data controller

404-DEV, INC., 651 N Broad St, Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA. For any question about your data: contact@404-dev.com.

Free website audit

When you request an audit, we collect the URL of the site to analyse, your e-mail address, the language of the page and a fingerprint (hash) of your IP address, used only to limit abuse. Your IP address is never stored in clear.

Purposes: analysing the public page you entered, sending you the report by e-mail and contacting you again about this report. Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time by e-mail.

Retention: three years from our last exchange, then deletion.

B2B outreach

We write to businesses, mainly established in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, whose activity may benefit from our services (websites, apps, AI). We only contact business e-mail addresses published on a public page (company website, legal notice, public directory or register, job posting), and we keep the page where the address appears. We never buy or rent mailing lists.

Data processed: company name; name and job title of the contact when they are published; business e-mail address and its source; country and language of the website; the public information that prompts the message (news, job posting, website measurement); the results of an audit of the website’s public page (performance, search, accessibility, security), obtained as any visitor would, without access to your systems; the history of our exchanges (sending, delivery, bounce, reply, unsubscription); visits to the private demo (number and dates, without IP address or cookie).

Purposes: offering you services related to your professional activity, showing you a private demo of what we measured, and following up on the exchange. We send at most one first message and one follow-up; without a reply, we do not write again.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in making our services known to professionals, with a message related to their activity (article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Private demo: each message links to a personal page, not indexed by search engines, online for thirty days. It shows your website’s icon, which your browser loads from Google’s icon service (your browser sends it the domain name).

Objection: every message contains a one-click unsubscribe link; you can also write to contact@404-dev.com. Your objection takes effect immediately: pending messages are cancelled and we do not write to you again. To respect it, we keep only a fingerprint (hash) of your address in a suppression list.

Retention: three years from our last contact with you, then deletion. The fingerprint in the suppression list is kept for as long as the objection must be respected.

WhatsApp and messages we receive

If you write to us on WhatsApp, your messages go through Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform. An artificial intelligence assistant may draft a first reply, with no commitment; any question about prices, quotes or meetings, and any request to talk to a person, is passed on to our team.

E-mails received at contact@404-dev.com are sorted automatically, notably by an artificial intelligence model, to pass requests from customers and prospects on to the team.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you. Retention: three years from our last exchange.

Audience measurement and cookies

The home page sets no audience measurement or advertising cookie. The “Add as a preferred source” button only loads Google’s script when you hover over it, tap it or give it focus.

Recipients and processors

Data is processed by the 404-DEV team and by our technical processors: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (e-mail delivery), Meta (WhatsApp), Google (tracking spreadsheet and research tools) and artificial intelligence model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, notably through OpenRouter), used to research companies and to draft and sort messages. Some are located outside the European Union; transfers are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or the Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Write to contact@404-dev.com. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL: cnil.fr).
